#Sonos move Bluetooth#
You have to swallow the price, especially if you compare it with other bluetooth speakers. How happy I was when the Sonos Move was announced that had exactly those missing features: a battery-powered bluetooth-enabled speaker with the quality and ease of installation that we know from Sonos. Last year I doubted for a long time whether I would buy the Sonos One when it came out, but I was sorry that it could not be used as a bluetooth speaker, and also found the fixed power cable too restrictive. Google Assistant still has some problems and limitations With the built-in Google Assistant, you can ask everything via voice commands and you can even control your smart home with your voice. “Hey Google, tell me the latest news” and “Hey Google, is it going to rain today?”. I have to admit it makes me a little lazy. Within 2 hours, the Move is approximately fully charged and then it will last another 10 hours. You place the charging station near a socket. But hey, I don't have a pool.Ĭharge via charging station, then take it with you again You could also safely place it in the garden next to the pool, because the speaker is waterproof. So you don't have to worry that it won't take a beating. I listen to all my favorite songs all over the house.īelieve it or not, this speaker is even more likely to make a dent in the ground if it falls off the table. Via the same app I connect it to my Sonos Beam for an extension to my home cinema, or I connect it to my Sonos One in the bedroom for a multi-room system. The installation proceeds as I am used to from Sonos. So the sound comes from all sides and it doesn't matter where it is. The low bass and high volume spread 360 degrees throughout the room. In terms of sound, it just doesn't reach the level of the Play:5, but that says a lot.

The speaker is a lot bigger than, for example, the Sonos One, or another WiFi speaker. A downside: the speaker is 3 kilos, so that will take some lugging. The bluetooth support takes care of that. He can even take it to the park in the summer. But do I wash up or take a shower? Then I grab it by the notch and take it around the house with me. If I want to use it as a WiFi speaker at home, I place it in its charging station. It is a whopper of a speaker, but the design is again a picture to look at. In fact, I've knocked mine off my bathroom counter onto the tile, and it's fine! Move, I assure you, is not precious cargo.I am really pleasantly surprised by the Sonos Move. And because it's drop-resistant, you don't have to handle it with extreme care. Hell, bring it with you to soundtrack an evacuation from a hurricane-Move can handle it. So, go ahead and bring it to a rooftop party, to the park, to the beach. It can survive steam, as well as rain, humidity, sand, dust, snow, heat, and cold. But, here's what I do with Move: I have it in my family room to add some depth to my other speakers, and when I shower, I lift it off its charging station and carry it into the bathroom, where I don't have to worry about the steam ruining it. I like music when I shower, for reasons outlined above, but I was worried about humidity and steam or potential splashing ruining my nice speaker.

Timothy Mulcare You can truly bring it anywhere.īefore Move, the one place in my apartment I didn't have a Sonos speaker was the bathroom. There’s a handle on the back of the speaker for easy carrying. And since it's durable, weather resistant, and great sounding, it's the perfect unit to distract my annoying brain wherever I might need it. Sonos's first mobile speaker unit, the Move seamlessly connects to my household sound system, but can also work via Bluetooth outside of the house and away from wifi. Thankfully, though, Sonos solved this problem for me with its new Move speaker. But what if, heaven forbid, I'm briefly not in the vicinity of something that plays music? Do I hum? Do I talk to myself? The prospect is absolutely chilling. No matter where I happen to go in my apartment, there's a song or podcast to keep my overactive brain occupied. I have a Sonos speaker in my kitchen, one in the bedroom, and a Sonos Beam connected to my TV. Given this phobia, I keep a speaker in every room of my one-bedroom apartment, out of fear that I will be briefly without some sort of audio content to stimulate my brain.
